Does someone you know have a life-threatening allergy? Do you?
We can help.
Anaphylaxis is a serious allergic reaction that can be life
threatening. Food is the most common cause of anaphylaxis,
but insect stings, medicine, latex, or exercise can also cause
a reaction.
It has been estimated that more than 600,000 or 1% to 2%
of Canadians are at risk of anaphylaxis (from food and insect
allergy). More recent studies suggest that nearly 4% of the
US population, or 1 in 25 Americans, is at risk for food allergy
alone, a rate much higher than noted in the past. Canadian
trends are thought to mirror those of the US, given similarities
in lifestyle. Food allergy affects up to 6% of young children
in North America. (Source: www.allergysafecommunities.ca

Whether you are living with the allergy yourself, caring for
someone who is, or concerned about people in your community,
we trust that you will find what you need to help make things
safer.
Together we can all make a difference.
